Personal Lubricant Certification
The Osmolality Lab™ tests and certifies personal lubricant products for manufacturers and clients across the globe.
Personal Lubricants
THE OSMOLab℠ CERTIFIED for personal lubricants is based on recommendations set forth by the WHO (World Health Organization). Many personal lubricants on the market fall alarmingly short of the WHO guidelines and can often create negative consequences to women’s health. In alignment with current guidelines, products that fall within the interim recommendation for optimal use (380-1200 mOsm/kg) may qualify to become THE OSMOLab℠ CERTIFIED. Products that align with further recommendations considered ideal for optimal use (<380 mOsm/kg) may qualify for a THE OSMOLab℠ CERTIFIED Better For You mark.
This certification demonstrates to consumers that their personal lubricant product meets the WHO recommendations for osmolality, is of high quality, and is optimized for women’s health. Products that wear the mark can help manufacturers:
- Increase Sales
- Build Customer Loyalty
- Strengthen Positive Brand Awareness
- Reduce Liability Risk
To qualify as a certified product, personal lubricants marketed in the United States must have 510 (k) application number or have been filed with the FDA and fall within the WHO recommendations for osmolality.
